Developing story first seen 12 hours ago
Josh O’Connor has publicly described the James Bond speculation around him as an “incredibly bizarre pinch me moment”, saying he feels honoured to be considered. His comments offer a rare response from one of the actors reportedly in the final stages of the search, though he declined to confirm any involvement.
O’Connor, known for “The Crown” and “Challengers”, spoke at the opening of a community and education centre in Cheltenham. Reports also name Jack Lowden and Callum Turner as screen-test contenders; Lowden has called the attention flattering but declined to add to speculation. The 26th Bond film, the first under Amazon MGM Studios’ creative control, is to be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight.

Explained simply
James Bond is a fictional British spy who has been played by different actors in a long-running film series. Each new casting attracts attention because the role is closely associated with its previous performers, including Daniel Craig, whose last Bond film was released in 2021.
The next film will be the 26th in the series and the first made under Amazon MGM Studios’ creative control. Denis Villeneuve is directing, with Steven Knight writing the screenplay. Several actors have been linked to the role, but those reports do not confirm who will play Bond or whether any particular actor is involved in casting.
