Jude Law is set to play Bill Shankly in a series being developed by A24 and Jack Thorne, bringing the former Liverpool manager’s story to television. The drama will explore Shankly’s role in transforming the club and the bond between Liverpool and its supporters.

Shankly took charge in December 1959 and led Liverpool to promotion, three First Division titles, two FA Cups, four Charity Shields and a UEFA Cup. The series is planned for filming in Liverpool and at Anfield; Thorne has written its first two episodes, and producers are speaking with broadcasters and streaming services.
