Justin Herbert was criticised after the Los Angeles Chargers lost 26–14 to the Las Vegas Raiders, with Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin mocking him on Instagram. Irvin contrasted Herbert driving pop star Madison Beer to the airport with his inability to lead the Chargers into the end zone, adding to growing scrutiny of the quarterback’s performances.

Herbert completed 15 of 27 passes for 192 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while being sacked three times and finishing with a 59.5 passer rating. The Chargers scored only 14 points against a Raiders defence viewed as manageable, intensifying concerns that the 28-year-old has not justified his reported $262 million contract or the expectations surrounding him.
