Kane plays down returning to Premier League in future

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Harry Kane has played down suggestions he could one day return to the Premier League to chase Alan Shearer's all-time scoring record, saying he no longer feels the "itch" to come back to England. The England captain left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in 2023 while 47 goals short of Shearer's record of 260, but has since thrived in Germany, and is now expected to open talks over a new contract as he enters the final year of his current deal.

Kane scored 213 Premier League goals for Spurs before his £86.4m move, and has since notched 98 league goals in three seasons at Bayern, including 73 goals in all competitions last term as Vincent Kompany's side won the league and cup double. Speaking after collecting the Bundesliga's Golden Shoe for finishing as top scorer, Kane said he feels settled in Munich with his family and credited Kompany with elevating his game, though he stopped short of ruling out a future Premier League return entirely.
