Kartik Aaryan’s film “Captain India” will begin principal photography in London on 1 September, with filming due to finish by the end of October. Directed by Shimit Amin, the project is significant as it marks the feature-film return of the filmmaker behind “Chak De! India” and is based on India’s real-life evacuation of citizens from a conflict-hit country.

The film is produced by T-Series, Baweja Studios and Dopamine Studios, with a screenplay by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Shrivastava; further cast members are expected. An earlier version was announced in 2021 with Hansal Mehta directing, but the current production is scheduled for release on 13 August 2027, during India’s Independence Day weekend.
