"Point Break" is returning to cinemas for a limited run to mark the 35th anniversary of its original 1991 release, with a new 4K restoration set for screenings on 16 and 19 August. The re-release, from Resurgence Media Group, Saga Arts and Fathom Entertainment, is aimed at the film's enduring cult following and will let audiences see its famous surfing and skydiving sequences on the big screen again.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the action film stars Keanu Reeves as an undercover FBI agent and Patrick Swayze as the charismatic surfer he is sent to infiltrate, alongside Gary Busey, Lori Petty, John C. McGinley, James LeGros and Anthony Kiedis. Screenings will feature an exclusive introduction from surfer Matt Archbold, who doubled for Swayze and coached the cast, and Fathom's Shannah Miller said the restoration gives long-time fans exactly what they have been asking for. Tickets are already on sale online and at participating cinema box offices.
