Keanu Reeves Takes Over Lead In Netflix Actioner ‘Maelstrom’ From Alan Ritchson

Keanu Reeves will lead Netflix action film *Maelstrom*, replacing Alan Ritchson, who left for undisclosed reasons. The casting puts Reeves at the centre of a long-developing project, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

Reeves will play a federal marshal protecting the fiancée of an arms dealer turned witness during a hurricane-isolated night under attack. Mark Bianculli wrote the current script draft, based on an earlier draft by the late Gregory Fitzpatrick; the project was first developed as a Warner Bros. spec in 1993.
