Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has revealed that the studio has mapped out its film slate as far ahead as 2042, promising a "streamlined, simplified" shared universe once the current Multiverse Saga concludes with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Speaking to Chinese outlet Watching Hollywood in Shanghai, Feige framed Secret Wars not as an ending akin to Avengers: Endgame but as a fresh starting point designed to make the MCU more accessible to new audiences, while still resolving long-running storylines, including those tied to the original X-Men characters.

Feige said the X-Men will sit "fundamentally" at the core of Marvel's next chapter, dubbed the Mutant Saga, going well beyond Wolverine and the classic team to build a multi-stage mutant universe, with Jake Schreier's upcoming X-Men film expected to be the start rather than a standalone story. He also referenced past comments about eventually introducing a live-action Miles Morales and recasting other heroes over time. Doomsday arrives in cinemas this December, with Secret Wars following in 2027, and Marvel is expected to share further details at this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con alongside news on Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
