Amazon’s refreshed colour Kindle offers few reading improvements for its premium price
Amazon’s 2026 Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition adds a thinner design, a flush-front display and a Fig colour option, but the review finds little improvement to the reading experience. Its colour screen remains useful for covers, highlights and illustrated books, though the reviewer says colour E Ink has lost much of its novelty.
The Signature Edition costs $320, or $30 more than the base model, for an aluminium case, pogo pins, twice the storage and a choice of black or maroon. The screen still offers 300 pixels per inch for black-and-white reading and 150 for colour. The reviewer found the new model sturdy and free of the yellow-band issue reported on some earlier devices, but says its refinements do not justify the higher price.
In short
- The Signature Edition costs $320.
- Its reading experience is much like the previous model.
- The premium design may not justify the extra cost.
