Explained simply

Kiss are an American rock band formed in New York in 1973. They became known for theatrical concerts, elaborate costumes and face paint, as well as songs such as “Rock and Roll All Nite”. The group’s best-known members include bassist and singer Gene Simmons and guitarist and singer Paul Stanley.

Farewell tours are a way for long-running bands to mark the end of touring together, though they do not necessarily mean the end of every activity. Kiss’ final tour ran from 2019 to 2023, closing at Madison Square Garden in New York. Its history matters because the band spent five decades performing and building a distinctive public image.
