Kolisi welcomes homecoming of Bok stars, pays tribute to Andrews
South Africa captain Siya Kolisi welcomed the return of four senior Springboks from Japan to domestic clubs, saying their experience will strengthen local teams and help younger players. Their arrivals add depth ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup and are expected to raise the level of South African derbies and the United Rugby Championship.
Kolisi also paid tribute to former Sharks teammate Hyron Andrews, who died aged 31 at the Lions’ team hotel last month. Ahead of Andrews’s funeral on Saturday, he spoke of the loss to teammates and friends, and expressed particular concern for Andrews’s wife and two children. South Africa, after winning their series against New Zealand 3-1, face Italy, France and Ireland before the Nations Championship finals.
