Lacuna Coil vocalist Andrea Ferro said the music industry has changed dramatically, with social media replacing magazines, television and radio as the main way audiences discover bands. He argued that this makes rapid success possible but makes sustained careers harder, while stressing that artists must remain honest about the music they create rather than follow short-lived trends.

Ferro said Lacuna Coil benefited from building its audience through extensive touring in an earlier era, but believes rock and metal have broadly retained quality despite new influences. He said the band’s increasingly heavy direction reflects its genuine preferences and the strengths of its current musicians; its latest album, *Sleepless Empire*, was released in February 2025 through Century Media Records.
