Lara Croft can’t catch a break: after delaying one Tomb Raider game, Amazon is delaying another and this one won’t show up until 2028

Amazon has delayed Tomb Raider: Catalyst until 2028, extending a troubled rollout for its planned revival of the Lara Croft franchise. The decision matters because Catalyst had been expected in 2027 and follows the postponement of another major Tomb Raider release, adding to uncertainty around Amazon and Crystal Dynamics’ wider plans.

Amazon gaming chief Jeffrey Gattis confirmed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the original game, is due on 12 February 2027, with Catalyst to follow in 2028. Catalyst is a new adventure set in India for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC; the wider project has also faced controversy over reported AI use, production disruption on Amazon’s TV adaptation, and repeated layoffs at Crystal Dynamics.

  • Tomb Raider: Catalyst has slipped from 2027 to 2028.
  • Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled for February 2027.
  • Amazon’s Tomb Raider revival has faced several setbacks.
