Country music star Reba McEntire has spoken about marking 50 years in the music industry and steering her NBC sitcom "Happy's Place" to a third season, in an interview on the "Daily Variety" podcast. She discussed how she has navigated a difficult television market to keep the multi-camera comedy on air, while also reflecting on a special series of EP releases celebrating her golden anniversary in music.

The EP project, an idea credited to her manager Justin McIntosh, pairs a newly recorded song with several older tracks and runs from April through December via her longtime label MCA; the next release, "Ring, Ring," arrives on 24 July. "Happy's Place," which reunites McEntire with the team behind her earlier series "Reba" and co-stars her husband Rex Linn, returns for its third season on 23 October. McEntire also spoke about her retail and entertainment venture in Atoka, Oklahoma, near her hometown, housed in a restored 1907 building.
