Live Nation Adds North Melbourne Venue to Australian Portfolio
Live Nation will build and operate a new 5,000-capacity music venue at Arden Central in North Melbourne, adding a major space to Melbourne’s live music scene. The project is part of a government-backed urban renewal precinct and is intended to attract international touring acts while creating more performance opportunities for Australian artists.
The venue is expected to host more than 100 events a year, but no opening date has been announced. Arden Central has a A$7 billion budget and is planned to include more than 5,400 homes, facilities and 5.5 hectares of open space; the venue is designed by Blueprint Studio with Populous. It will be among Live Nation’s largest venues in the region, alongside its existing Australian venues and Auckland’s 13,000-capacity Spark Arena.
