Liverpool FC and Merseyside police have carried out a joint investigation into ticket touting, resulting in £1.2m of assets being seized and 432 lifetime bans issued to fans. Described as the first operation of its kind between a Premier League club and its local police force, the crackdown focused on organised touts laundering proceeds from illicit ticket sales, protecting genuine supporters from being scammed or overcharged when trying to buy tickets.

The club's investigations team worked with Merseyside police's economic crime team to analyse almost 700,000 ticket registrations from last season, with several cases pursued under the Proceeds of Crime Act; two people have already been convicted and a third is due in court next month. Liverpool also blocked or cancelled 67,663 suspected fake accounts, with a further 121,379 still under investigation, while 115 indefinite suspensions were imposed alongside the lifetime bans, mostly for unauthorised selling of season, membership or hospitality tickets. Bans were also handed out for racist and homophobic abuse, inappropriate touching or language, assault and tragedy chanting, and match-day operations outside Anfield saw a 33% rise in burner phones identified or seized.
