London has submitted its final bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, with the host city set to be confirmed in September. The bid is being led by Athletic Ventures, a partnership between UK Athletics, London Marathon Events and the Great Run Company, who see the event as a key part of the "Olympic legacy" of the 2012 Games.

The proposed venue is London Stadium, built for the 2012 Olympics and already home to the London Diamond League meeting. A feasibility study estimated the championships could deliver a £400m economic benefit, and the UK government confirmed its backing for the bid in July 2025. West Ham United, who play their home games at the stadium, have also thrown their support behind the bid, agreeing to work with London Stadium LLP and Athletic Ventures, though the potential impact on the club's 2029-30 season has yet to be confirmed. London previously hosted the World Championships in 2017.
