Lukas Nelson and Lainey Wilson Bring a Little Southern Soul to Dolly Parton’s CMA Celebration
Lukas Nelson and Lainey Wilson honoured Dolly Parton at a two-hour Country Music Association tribute, performing “You Can’t Make Old Friends”. The event celebrated Parton’s life and influence on country music, while also supporting a programme she founded to give books to children.
Held at Belmont University in Nashville, the special was presented with Disney and ABC and featured performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Vince Gill, Zac Brown, Amy Grant, Carly Pearce, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire and others. Belmont president Dr Greg Jones said the university was proud to host artists and fans in recognition of Parton’s creativity, generosity and connection to Tennessee; donations raised at the event supported her Imagination Library.
