Matos moves aside to give players the plaudits
Vitor Matos said he stepped aside after Swansea City’s 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers so his players could receive the applause from supporters. The emphatic result answered questions raised by a 5-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers the previous weekend and a loss to West Ham.
Stephen Eustaquio, Joseph Opoku, Filip Lissah and Ross Stewart scored as Swansea beat a Blackburn side that had won four of its previous six matches. Swansea moved to second in the table after leaders Middlesbrough beat Charlton. Eustaquio was being assessed for a groin issue, while Marko Stamenic could return from illness for Tuesday’s match at Portsmouth.
In short
- Matos let Swansea’s players take the applause after their 4-0 win.
- Four players scored in the response to a 5-0 defeat.
- Swansea moved second and next visit Portsmouth.
