Matt Groening has suggested that The Simpsons: Hit & Run, the popular 2003 game, is set to return “in some form”. His remark during a D23 panel is the strongest indication yet of a revival, although no official announcement or release details have been provided. A remaster or remake would renew interest in one of the most highly regarded games based on the television series.

During a question about a sequel, showrunner Matt Selman initially called the idea “a treat” before Groening said the original game was coming back; Selman then appeared to suggest the comment may have revealed unannounced information. The game was developed by Radical Entertainment and lets players explore Springfield as characters including Homer, Bart and Lisa, driving vehicles and following a story written by the show’s writers. Speculation has also been fuelled by Radical’s recent return as New Radical Games and reports that Activision may be reviving a much-requested licensed title.
