Explained simply

Megadeth are an American heavy metal band formed in 1983 by guitarist and singer Dave Mustaine, after he left Metallica. They became one of the leading bands in thrash metal, a fast, aggressive style of heavy metal, alongside groups such as Testament.

Black Label Society, led by guitarist and singer Zakk Wylde, is another established American metal band. The three groups have built long careers and audiences of their own; touring together brings their different generations of metal fans into the same line-up.

Megadeth’s farewell tour is planned to span several years, and the band has described its latest studio album as its last. Its chart performance gives the tour added context: it reached a new high for the group in the United States, while the European dates extend the farewell to audiences across the region.
