Meta AI now has a dedicated desktop app for Mac

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Meta has launched a standalone desktop app for Meta AI on Mac, part of a broader effort to make its AI tools more useful for business owners and creators who rely on Facebook and Instagram. The app adds capabilities not found in the existing website or mobile version, including screen-sharing so the assistant can view what a user is working on and offer more tailored advice, such as guidance on crafting posts and adverts.

The update also lets people with professional Facebook and Instagram accounts connect Meta AI to Google Workspace to pull in documents and spreadsheets, and gives the assistant access to Meta's own analytics and advertising tools, allowing it to answer questions using account engagement and ad performance data. The app is free, though Meta has been gradually introducing rate limits on advanced features that require its Meta One subscription. The release follows Meta's recent launch of a low-cost AI coding agent and reflects chief executive Mark Zuckerberg's stated ambition for the company's AI agents to eventually help run entire businesses.
