Minnesota hero, 27, who jumped on runaway school bus to save 19 kids credits Grey’s Anatomy for inspirational courage: ‘You never see doctors panic’
Ebro Ahmed, 27, stopped a runaway school bus carrying 19 children in St Paul, Minnesota, after he saw that its driver appeared to be having a seizure. He ran aboard and brought the bus to a halt, helping prevent anyone from being injured.
Ahmed said watching Grey’s Anatomy had taught him to stay calm and think through emergencies. He initially put the bus into reverse by accident, then shifted it into neutral and applied the parking brake; two girls near the front helped while he worked. Paramedics took the driver to hospital, and the school district said the driver is recovering at home. The children were transferred to another bus and sent home, with counsellors checking in the next day.
