MIP London Comes To An End After Two Years; Organizers Launching New Event Alongside London Book Fair
RX France has discontinued MIP London after just two years, replacing it with a new two-day conference called MIP Talks that will run alongside the London Book Fair in March. Despite featuring notable speakers including David Beckham and Netflix content chief Bela Bajaria, MIP London failed to establish itself in a competitive market, with attendance declining year-on-year. This shift reflects broader changes within RX's entertainment division, as the organiser repositions its events to focus on intellectual property and cross-sector convergence rather than traditional television market dynamics.
MIP Talks will centre on the theme "From IP to Fandom – and Fandom to Global Business" and aims to unite entertainment, media and cultural voices to explore emerging opportunities. The London Book Fair, which hosts the event and attracts approximately 30,000 visitors annually at London's ExCel venue, represents a significant platform for this relaunch. MIP London's closure mirrors a broader restructuring: MIPCOM, RX's flagship annual television market, is being re-engineered under Lucy Smith's leadership to emphasise IP and convergence across entertainment sectors, whilst the Children's Media Conference has similarly relocated from Sheffield to the London Book Fair.
