Infinity Ward has extended the Modern Warfare 4 open beta by 12 hours, pushing the closing time to 1am on Wednesday 2 September rather than the originally planned 1pm on Tuesday 1 September. The extra window gives players more time to level up and unlock rewards that can be carried over into the full game when it launches, which matters most to fans keen to secure exclusive in-game content before access closes.
The beta's second weekend began at 1pm EDT on Friday 28 August and raised the level cap from 20 to 30, unlocking further weapons, killstreaks and perks beyond the first weekend's cap of 20. New additions in this phase include the Entrenched campaign mission, in which players help prevent a nuclear power station's destruction, a movement-focused mobility course, and the large-scale Ground War mode, alongside carried-over features such as the Gunfight-exclusive Kill Block.
