Modern Warfare 4’s big beta update aims to fix several nagging complaints from players

Destructoid · 3 hours ago

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s second beta weekend introduces changes intended to address mixed player feedback from the first test. Infinity Ward has adjusted weapons, movement and aim assist, with the most significant change being the removal of Tactical Sprint as the default setting; the update matters because it seeks to slow combat slightly and give players more control over multiplayer pacing.

All weapons have been retuned to increase survivability and lengthen time-to-kill without simply raising players’ base health, which developers say should allow greater scope for skill in fights. Aim assist has also been reduced, although Infinity Ward says the setting is still being refined before launch; the beta additionally includes a preview of Warzone’s Zodiac map and marks Call of Duty’s return to Nintendo hardware through Switch 2, the first since Ghosts on Wii U in 2013.

  • MW4’s beta update targets key player complaints.
  • Weapon tuning slightly increases time-to-kill.
  • Tactical Sprint is no longer enabled by default.
