Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will add Collateral, a Search and Destroy-style mode with a money-based equipment system inspired by Counter-Strike. It could make each round more tactical, as players must weigh the risks of spending on gear against saving money for later.

Players start with pistols and earn cash by eliminating opponents and playing the objective, then buy weapons, armour, perks and equipment between rounds; teams can also pool money for a UAV. The mode has no respawns, Killstreaks, automatic health regeneration or custom loadouts, and players lose purchased gear when they die, though their cash carries over. Activision has yet to share further details; the game is due out on 23 October.
