British racing driver Ollie Millroy, 36, was pulled from his blazing Ferrari by rival Dutch driver Loek Hartog, 23, after a horror crash during a China GT event at the Shanghai International Circuit. Millroy's car was struck by two other vehicles while cornering, sending it spinning off track and bursting into flames, with Hartog abandoning his own race position to stop and free the trapped driver before fire crews arrived, an act Millroy has credited with saving his life.

Footage shows Hartog's car pulling up beside the wreckage as he leaps out and searches through the flaming debris to reach Millroy, initially failing to free him and instead grabbing a fire extinguisher before track staff and fire crews joined the rescue. Millroy suffered serious injuries including five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, a broken hand and finger, and a bruised lung, but survived, later posting from his hospital bed to thank Hartog for his "selfless act" and bravery. Hartog said he acted instinctively upon seeing the fireball, with no marshals or fire crews present, insisting many others would have done the same.
