Moment Katy Perry told fans her ex-husband Russell Brand ‘should be in jail’ during UK concert

Katy Perry told fans at a UK concert last July that she hoped her ex-husband Russell Brand was not there because “he should be in jail”. The remark has gained new significance after Brand was convicted of rape and sexual assault at Southwark Crown Court last week.

Perry made the comment during a question-and-answer session at the Blenheim Palace Festival in Oxfordshire, after a fan asked her to act out seeing an ex. She and Brand married in India in October 2010 and divorced in 2011; Perry has rarely discussed their 14-month marriage. She later had a decade-long relationship with Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a daughter, and is now in a relationship with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
