A road-rage driver was filmed calling a cyclist a "freak" and kicking his bike over during a confrontation in Grays, Essex, and police are now seeking to arrest him. Tony Envoldsen-Harris, 47, was cycling when he was dangerously overtaken by Adam Fry, 36, in a Volkswagen Golf; bikecam footage captured the driver accelerating past through a pinch point before an angry exchange escalated. The case matters because, despite Fry being convicted, he has still not been detained and the cyclist feels his attacker has "got away with it".

After being overtaken, Envoldsen-Harris read out the driver's numberplate in the phonetic alphabet for his recording, which further angered Fry, who got out of his car shouting before kicking the bike — leaving the cyclist bruised — and calling him a "nonce". The incident happened in December 2023 and reached Basildon Magistrates' Court in August 2025, where Fry pleaded guilty to intentional harassment, driving without consideration for other road users, and criminal damage, but denied assault by beating. He failed to attend his trial and was found guilty of the assault charge in his absence; a warrant has been issued for his arrest so he can be sentenced, though he remains at large.
