Monzo down as some users unable to make card payments or transfers
Monzo, the British digital bank, suffered a technical fault that left some customers unable to make card payments or transfers. The company activated a backup service called Monzo Stand-in to keep essential functions running while it worked on a fix, though several affected customers reported that this backup was also failing to work properly.
Monzo said on X that it had "identified some issues" and was "rolling out a fix and moving quickly to get full service back up and running for everyone". Monzo Stand-in is designed to allow customers to make card payments, withdraw cash, freeze cards, and send or receive bank transfers during outages, but users complained on social media that they still could not use their cards or make transfers. Monzo, founded in 2015 as a branchless, app-based bank, says it now serves more than 16 million personal and business customers worldwide.
