Morphine – “Spaceman Charm”
Morphine have released “Spaceman Charm”, a previously unheard track recorded in 1998, ahead of the posthumous album *Cocoon*. The release brings new attention to recordings left by frontman Mark Sandman, who died during a performance in Italy in 1999.
*Cocoon* is assembled from abandoned recordings Sandman made with producers Paul Q. Kolderie and Sean Slade in his final years. Kolderie and Sandman’s partner, Sabine Hrechdakian, selected and shaped the material, while band member Dana Colley added saxophone to some tracks, including “Spaceman Charm”; versions of several other songs appeared on the 2004 collection *Sandbox: The Music Of Mark Sandman*.
