Mortal Shell 2 gets its first major update, adding in extra beacons, useful new items, and making riposte damage scaling actually work

Rock Paper Shotgun · 2 hours ago

Mortal Shell 2 has received its first substantial post-launch update just over a week after release, expanding its items and navigation options while addressing combat, performance and presentation issues. The changes matter particularly for players in New Game Plus and Night Mode, where revised riposte damage scaling should make encounters less punishing and more reliable.

The update adds fragile tarstones, glimpse stones and Egon’s stone, which can revive players at a dungeon entrance without losing gloom when it breaks. Additional daytime beacons have been placed in Fainweald and Mammon, problematic chests have been reset, and two cosmetic headpieces can be earned through certain questlines. Ripostes now scale against enemy health, recover more quickly, apply damage consistently and retain invulnerability until their animations end; enemy density has also been reduced in some areas to improve performance.

  • Mortal Shell 2’s first major update improves combat and exploration.
  • New items, beacons and cosmetic rewards have been added.
  • Ripostes are now more consistent and scale with enemy health.
