Moulin Rouge! The Musical closed out its seven-year Broadway run in style, topping the box office chart with a gross of $2,336,973 for its final week at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The strong finish, boosted by original Tony-winning star Aaron Tveit returning for the closing fortnight, drew fans keen for a last chance to see the show, and marked its second-highest weekly gross ever, behind only a Christmas-week haul in its debut season.

The sold-out production also commanded the highest average ticket price of the week at $223.46, well above Hamilton's $188.91 and the citywide average of $115.04. Elsewhere, horror adaptation Paranormal Activity impressed in its first post-opening week at the Wilson, playing to 99% capacity and grossing $735,747. Overall, the 26 Broadway shows took in $25,753,182 for the week ending 30 August, down about 4% on the previous week and 16% year-on-year, with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child surging on Tom Felton's return while The Rocky Horror Show and The Lion King saw notable declines.
