MTV VMAs Producer Van Toffler Promises a “Kick-A**, Fast-Paced Show,” Says Madonna’s Performance “Will Make Your Head Spin”
MTV VMAs executive producer Van Toffler says this year’s ceremony will be fast-paced and deliberately eclectic, bringing together artists across genres and generations. Madonna will open the show with her first VMAs performance in 23 years, while the programme will also feature newcomers, special guests and tributes to major figures from music history.
The ceremony will honour Nirvana with the band’s first Video Vanguard Award, reflecting its lasting influence on MTV and popular culture. Kacey Musgraves will pay tribute to Dolly Parton, who died aged 80, while Raye, Sombr and Teddy Swims will celebrate George Michael on the 40th anniversary of his album *Faith*; Toffler says the tributes will balance emotional moments with each artist’s personality.
- Madonna returns to the VMAs after 23 years.
- Nirvana will receive long-overdue recognition.
