Spain marked their first home match since winning the World Cup with a 4-1 Nations League victory over Croatia. Lamine Yamal scored twice and assisted another goal, strengthening his Ballon d’Or case and helping Spain make an emphatic start to their homecoming.

Yamal opened the scoring after 75 seconds; Croatia’s Dion Beljo equalised before Marc Pubill restored Spain’s lead from Yamal’s cross. Yamal scored again in the 63rd minute, and Nico Williams added a late fourth. Spain captain Rodri presented the World Cup trophy before kick-off; voting for the Ballon d’Or had closed, with the winner due to be announced on 26 October. Elsewhere, Slovenia beat North Macedonia 2-0, while the Faroe Islands drew 1-1 with Moldova.
