Israeli documentary *Naza* premiered in the United States at the New York Film Festival, with a theatrical release planned across the country from 9 October. Directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor say they want the film to spur opposition to US funding for the Israeli military and challenge Israeli public silence about the Gaza war, placing it directly in the debate around US elections and Israel’s upcoming vote.

The film draws on interviews with two dozen anonymised Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza, based on reporting by Abraham for *The Guardian*, Local Call and +972. Their accounts describe military practices including target selection and the treatment of civilian casualties; the film also juxtaposes soldiers’ rooftop interviews with footage of Israelis watching television in high-rise homes. A pro-Israel protest outside the screening reflected the sharply divided reactions the documentary may provoke.
