Netflix Co-CEOs Address Executive Shakeup & Layoffs In Town Hall, Talk Up New CCO Peter Rice’s Experience Across Platforms — Including Streaming
Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters addressed staff concerns at a town hall following 1,000 job cuts and senior leadership changes, including Peter Rice’s appointment as Chief Content Officer in place of Bela Bajaria. The changes matter because employees reportedly learnt of Bajaria’s departure from the press before it was communicated internally, while executives are also responding to concerns about Netflix’s content pipeline.
Peters said the job cuts were over for the foreseeable future. Sarandos praised Rice’s experience across television, film, streaming and live sports, and highlighted his work with Hulu and FX on projects including *Only Murders in the Building*, *The Bear* and *Shōgun*. Rice was not at the town hall and is due to start next week; Sarandos also said Netflix could do better, particularly in the US, and expects Rice to influence projects already in development.
