Netflix Officially Removes $1B Franchise Hit
The first Minions film is leaving Netflix after 31 October, ending its run on the service on 1 November. The 2015 animated comedy was a major box-office success, and its departure is part of the regular turnover of licensed titles on streaming platforms.
The film follows Kevin, Stuart and Bob as they search for a villain to serve. It earned $1.16 billion worldwide, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of 2015 and the third animated film to pass $1 billion. Later instalments earned less: Minions: The Rise of Gru made $942 million, while Minions & Monsters took about $527.4 million.
