New allegations emerge about Scots College students accused of sexually assaulting teenage girl

Daily Mail ·

New details have emerged about an alleged sexual assault involving three students from Scots College, an elite private school in Sydney's eastern suburbs, which has caused significant controversy within the school community. Two boys, aged 13 and 14, and a third 14-year-old were charged last week over the alleged assault of a 14-year-old girl in a Bondi Junction alleyway on 22 July, with reports suggesting the boys surrounded, groped and assaulted the girl after drinking together earlier that evening. The case has prompted parents to demand accountability from school leadership, with some calling for the accused students to be expelled and for principal Dr Ian Lambert to resign over the school's handling of the matter.

The two younger boys each face charges of aggravated sexual assault in company and two counts of aggravated sexual touching, while the third boy faces one count each of the same offences. In response to mounting criticism, Dr Lambert and chairman Glen Pather sent parents a letter stating that "sexual violence is never acceptable" while stressing the school could not presume guilt, as the alleged incident occurred off-site and outside school hours. Parents have complained of being kept in the dark and have circulated a petition demanding an extraordinary meeting, while the school, which charges fees of up to $50,000 a year, quietly postponed its annual "Giving Day" fundraiser shortly before the charges were laid. The three teenagers remain on bail and are due to appear in a children's court on 25 August.
