New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Revealed at D23

Marvel Studios unveiled a new two-minute trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at Disney’s D23 convention, giving a wider audience access to footage previously shown at San Diego Comic-Con. The trailer positions Doctor Doom as an overwhelming threat to heroes from several Marvel universes, underscoring the film’s role as a major attempt to restore the franchise’s cultural and box-office momentum.
It shows Fantastic Four members Reed Richards and Sue Storm recognising Doom’s danger, while Thor is defeated by him and Doom revives damaged Sentinels into a small army. Robert Downey Jr. plays Doctor Doom in an ensemble featuring MCU, Fantastic Four and former X-Men film characters; Joe and Anthony Russo direct, with the film due in cinemas on 18 December and Avengers: Secret Wars planned for 2027.

The Avengers films bring together characters from Marvel’s superhero stories, which have been released in connected films and television series for nearly two decades. Doctor Doom is a long-standing Marvel villain, usually portrayed as a brilliant ruler and scientist who has a personal rivalry with Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic. In this film, Robert Downey Jr., who previously played Iron Man in the Marvel films, takes the role of Doom.
The Russo brothers directed earlier Avengers films including Infinity War and Endgame, which were among the franchise’s biggest cinema successes. The new film is part of a wider storyline that is expected to continue in Avengers: Secret Wars.
