Georgia Hall is returning to Royal Lytham and St Annes for this week's Women's Open, five months after giving birth to her son Conor, the venue where she claimed her maiden major title in 2018. The 30-year-old, who remains Britain's most recent female major winner, only began contemplating a comeback after hitting balls again six weeks postpartum, and subsequent encouraging performances on the Ladies European Tour convinced her she was ready to compete at the top level once more.

Hall won the 2018 AIG Women's Open by two shots at 17 under par, with her father Wayne caddying, and has since made cuts in France, the Netherlands and Belgium to prove her form. She has sought advice from Catriona Matthew, who won the same title at Lytham in 2009 just 11 weeks after her second child was born, and says she is managing her expectations this week given the physical toll of childbirth. Hall's fiancé Paul Dunne, a former Open amateur leader and British Masters champion, joined her and Conor on the course, while this year's firmer, faster course setup is expected to make matching her 2018 heroics difficult.
