New trailer teases that Marvel’s Wolverine is more of an X-Men prequel than a solo story
A new Marvel’s Wolverine story trailer shown at San Diego Comic-Con suggests the PS5 game will serve as an origin point for an X-Men universe rather than a self-contained Wolverine adventure. Developers said the X-Men team does not yet exist in this setting, raising the prospect that the story could lay groundwork for the group’s eventual formation.
Wolverine is joined on “Team X” by characters including Sabertooth and Mystique, under Nathaniel Essex, the future Mister Sinister. The principal antagonists are Bolivar Trask and Trask Industries, with Sentinel robots teased, while Lady Deathstrike leads The Hand; the game also shares a universe with Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles and launches exclusively on PS5 on 15 September.
- Wolverine may establish Insomniac’s future X-Men story.
- Trask, Sentinels and Lady Deathstrike are key threats.
- The PS5 game launches on 15 September.
