Rangers have signed Japanese winger Daisuke Yokota from German club Hannover on a three-year deal, with the option of a further year, marking the Ibrox club's ninth signing of the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old, who moved to Germany as a teenager, brings experience from several European leagues and is intended to strengthen manager Derek McInnes' attacking options following Mikey Moore's return to parent club Tottenham after his loan spell.

Yokota's career has taken him through FSV Frankfurt and Carl Zeiss Jena in Germany, Valmiera in Latvia, Gornik Zabrze in Poland, and Gent in Belgium, before loan spells at Kaiserslautern and Hannover, who signed him permanently this summer after he scored five goals and provided four assists in Germany's second tier. The move is still subject to international clearance and a visa, and it remains unclear whether he will be available for Rangers' Europa League third qualifying round first leg against Jagiellonia Bialystok in Poland on Thursday.
