Nintendo Wanted To Remake Ocarina Of Time To “Trigger New Insights” For Future Titles
Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma says remaking *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time* was partly intended to give developers fresh insights for future games. Many current team members have worked mainly on newer titles, so rebuilding the landmark adventure could help them understand its design and development approach.
The remake is also meant to let players familiar with the open-ended *Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* experience a more carefully paced story, where progress builds gradually. Aonuma described the possible lessons for future development as valuable, though it remains unclear whether they will shape later games. The interview also named HokWai Ng as director of the internally developed project.
In short
- The remake could inform future Zelda development.
- Nintendo wants to highlight Ocarina’s more guided adventure.
- HokWai Ng is directing the project.
