Notorious B.I.G. Estate Lawsuit Ends With Faith Evans Sending $14M to Voletta Wallace’s Trust

Billboard ·

A Delaware judge has ordered Faith Evans to transfer nearly $14 million from The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate to a trust established by his late mother, Voletta Wallace. The ruling resolves a dispute over the trust’s share of estate profits and directs the money to a memorial foundation under the terms of Wallace’s will.

The profits cover the period from Wallace’s death on 21 February 2025 to December 2025. Her 25 per cent share for that period was calculated at $12.5 million; with interest, the payment is expected to total nearly $14 million. The trust’s trustee, Wayne Barrow, remains involved in a separate case in which Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, is challenging the terms of his grandmother’s will.

In short

  • Faith Evans must pay nearly $14 million to Voletta Wallace’s trust.
  • The sum includes $12.5 million in profits plus interest.
  • A separate lawsuit over Wallace’s will is ongoing.

Explained simply

The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie, was a New York rapper whose music and name have continued to generate income since his death in 1997. His estate manages rights and other assets connected to his work, while Faith Evans, his widow and a singer, has been involved in its administration.

Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, had a share in the estate’s profits. Her will set out that her share should go to a trust and then support a memorial foundation; Wayne Barrow is the trust’s trustee. The dispute concerns how profits were divided and paid under those arrangements.

The case is separate from a challenge by Biggie’s son, CJ Wallace, to the terms of his grandmother’s will. Its outcome matters to the people responsible for the estate and trust, and to how income from Biggie’s legacy is handled.
