Now you can call anyone with WhatsApp, even if they don’t have WhatsApp
WhatsApp now lets account holders invite people to calls using a link, even if those guests do not have an account or the app. The change could make joining a call easier for occasional users, while keeping the host in control of access.
Guests can use features including hand raising, screen sharing and emoji reactions, and calls remain end-to-end encrypted. Hosts must approve guests in a waiting room and can remove them; guests cannot see other participants’ phone numbers, send messages or invite others. Meta also plans Google and Outlook calendar integrations later this year.
- WhatsApp guests can join calls without an account or app.
- Hosts approve and manage guest access.
- Calendar integrations are planned for later this year.

WhatsApp is a calling and messaging service owned by Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. Its calls are usually made between people who have an account and the app installed on their phone or computer.
A call link lets a host invite someone to join without those requirements. The host controls who gets in, and the call is encrypted so its contents are intended to be seen only by participants. This may make WhatsApp calls more practical for occasional users, such as people joining a one-off conversation.
