Omar Sharif Jr. & Sam Asghari Among Cast For Rom-Com ‘Crazy Rich Arabs’; Filming Kicks Off November In LA

Filming is due to begin in Los Angeles next week on the independent romantic comedy *Crazy Rich Arabs*, led by Omar Sharif Jr., Sam Asghari, Aron Kader and Walid Chaya. The project is unrelated to *Crazy Rich Asians* and aims to put Arab-American characters at the centre of a mainstream romantic comedy, addressing what producer Walid Chaya describes as limited representation of Middle Eastern and North African characters in leading roles.

Directed by Peter Takla and co-written by Chaya and Jimmy Monack, the film follows a sheltered Beirut musician travelling to Los Angeles for an arranged marriage. He discovers his wealthy, identical twin and the brothers switch identities, setting off romantic and family complications involving the bride, her brother, the twin’s friend and an Airbnb host. Moonlit Wings Productions is producing, with original music by Rawan Chaya.
