Explained simply

Death Stranding is a video game series created by Hideo Kojima. Its story takes place after a catastrophe has left people scattered across a damaged North America, where reconnecting settlements is a major part of rebuilding society.

In the game, Sam Porter Bridges helps link communities through a system called the Chiral Network. The animated series is set after that effort and looks at people whose lives have been shaped by the disaster and the return of connection, including a girl who prefers to be alone.
