OneDrive loses bunch of Copilot shortcuts in File Explorer clear-out

The Register ·

Microsoft is removing several dedicated Copilot shortcuts from OneDrive files’ right-click menu in File Explorer, while keeping the broader “Ask Copilot” option. The change is part of an effort to simplify a crowded menu and reflects Microsoft’s stated intention to reduce unnecessary Copilot entry points.

The rollout is due to begin in mid-November and finish by early December. Shortcuts for summarising documents, generating FAQs, comparing files or images, explaining images, extracting text and asking questions will disappear from the menu, but those actions will remain available through “Ask Copilot” and OneDrive’s activity centre. Users can also open Copilot from its icon in File Explorer Home.
